Michelin Joplin Beale


Michelin, a 1992 Tuskegee University Lillian Harvey School of Nursing Alumnus, is a retired Air Force Colonel and senior healthcare executive with 29 years of C-suite, operational and strategic level military healthcare administration and clinical nursing experiences. She currently serves as a High Reliability Organization Executive Leader Coach. Prior to that she served as a Nurse Administrator at Mayo Clinic where she oversaw nearly 400 personnel, guided 7 Nurse Managers in the development and implementation of policy and procedures and coordination of care of patients among 3 departments organ transplant, cardiology, and nephrology. There she provided senior leader guidance on patient safety and risk management ensuring delivery of safe highly reliable care. In her last military assignment as the Interim Deputy Director, Education and Training, Defense Health Agency, she served as Senior Nurse on Tri-Service Advisor Board to standardize strategy professional development programs for 49K nursing services personnel. Collaborated with Military Health System Chief Medical Officers on education initiatives impacting healthcare professions, provided logistical support for inter-agency medical training for 49 medical specialties resulting in 15K graduates per year. In addition, she oversaw 22 facilities, $54M contracts, revenue cycle, and human resources which supported 1600 faculty and staff across two geographically separated sites. She directed shared service education and training, executive/leader change management, process improvement and operational oversight for Medical Training Programs which supported the Military Health Systems’ 300 medical treatment facilities and war time readiness skills training, implemented systems thinking for shared services leader development and continuing education programs, and facilitated Tri-Service strategy and policy development in efforts to ensure quality education and training systems, learning consortia and training platforms using classroom, distributed learning and medical modeling and simulation. Lastly, her efforts yielded Department of Defense Military Health System’s and Mayo’s 12 successful joint accreditations, 2 magnet certifications and yielded over 41K contact hours across healthcare disciplines.


A leader/coach, she led teams to garner Small Clinic of the Year, numerous individual and group recognitions for outstanding patient centered care. She brings a wealth of operational and C-suite experience in leader development, strategic planning and change management. Her training includes not all inclusive, Master’s in Business Organizational Management, Military Strategy/Planning, Interagency Institute for Healthcare Executives, Patient Centered Medical Home, and Silver Quality Academy ensure safe, quality value-based care.
